Earn relevance, not a pile of links

A practical editorial authority approach for partnerships, digital PR, and responsible link review.

01

Look for a real audience fit

Industry publications, local associations, vendor relationships, and complementary partners can put your expertise in front of relevant people. Relevance and editorial context matter more than raw link counts.

  • Start with partners and publications relevant to your customers.
  • Pitch factual insights, useful resources, and original expertise.
  • Avoid mass-generated outreach or guaranteed-ranking promises.

02

Verify before claiming a backlink

A saved prospect is not an earned link. A verified result needs an accessible source page, the correct destination, visible editorial context, and appropriate rel attributes.

  • Capture source URL, target URL, anchor, date, and context.
  • Separate editorial and sponsored placements.
  • Use sponsored or nofollow attributes for paid placements as appropriate.

03

Keep research honest

Broad backlink inventories need a licensed provider or a user-supplied export. Atlas’s existing authority research stays available with its actual connection limits; Intelligence does not manufacture referring domains.

  • Disconnected providers remain visibly unavailable.
  • A live page spot-check is not a complete backlink database.
  • Track referral outcomes only when analytics is connected.
